Project: Canoe Cleanup on the Elm Fork (Pending Water Levels)

This week's Groundwork Dallas cleanup project will be in canoes on the Elm Fork. We have 7 canoes that will be put in at California Crossing and taken out at the Eco Classroom/Stemmons area. The eighth canoe will be used to carry full trash bags. Spaces are limited to 12 volunteers unless you have your own canoe or kayak. The focus will be to clean trash and debris floating on the water

Parking:
Everyone will park at California Crossing ParkTransportation will be provided to take you back to your vehicles once we reach the take out point.

Watercraft Requirements PFD’s:

Everyone regardless of age, must wear an approved life preserver. We have life preservers; however, you want to wear one fitted to you.

Sound Producing Devices
Any vessel less than 12 meters in length (39.4 ft.) is required to carry a whistle or horn, or some other means to make an efficient sound to signal intentions and position in periods of reduced visibility. Copy and paste the link below into Google Maps for directions.

  • What to wear:
    Clothing appropriate for canoeing
    Foot wear appropriate for canoeing, no bare feet.
    Full brim hat
    Sunscreen
     
  • Items provided:
    Trash bags
    Rubber gloves
    Trash Grabbers
    Water
