National Park Conservation Association (NPCA), which was founded in 1919 to be an independent, nonpartisan voice working to strengthen and protect America’s favorite places. They rely on the support from their million members to provide America’s National Parks with a voice. They wish to inform and inspire the public to ensure that our National Parks are well protected. Erika Pelletier is the Program Manager for the Texas Regional Office and she strives to give a voice to all citizens by educating them on advocacy.
12:00 PM Intro to National Park Service & Careers NPS (Raegan King)
National Parks Units are usually far-away dreams for the average urban citizen. However, that has changed in Waco, TX which has just gained their first Park Unit in the form of Waco Mammoth National Monument. The newly established monument is five acres of one of the richest Ice Age fossil beds in the world and contains 23 known mammoths remains. This location is open to the public and has become an educational epicenter for Waco. Raegan King is the force behind the Park Units success and designation. Mrs. King is the Program Coordinator at Waco Mammoth National Monument and strives to introduce the world to the wonders of the past.
