On Thursday, September 20th you have the opportunity to make a huge impact. You can help a local teen explore the outdoors, clean litter and debris from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, and build trail access to forests, all with the click of button. That’s because September 20th is North Texas Giving Day, and you can make a financial contribution that will directly impact your city and its youth. It’s that simple.
The impact that financial contributions make to our organization are far reaching because we believe in developing the next generation of environmental leaders. Our Green Team program enables us to take underserved, low-income teenagers and show them all of the possibilities nature holds. We want to equip and inspire them to pursue environmental majors and careers after high school. In fact, several Green Team Alumni are doing just that!
This past summer, we also held our first summer youth employment program for homeless and low-income youths so that they could continue learning about stewardship of our natural resources while earning much needed income. Fourteen Green Team Conservation Corps members completed the 7-week program which included training and life-skills lessons such as basic finance and an Environmental Career Day.
Groundwork Dallas has also worked to remove trash and debris from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, to restore the Buckeye and Bodark Trails, and create a wildlife viewing area at Hines Park that doubles as an amphitheater for public programming.
We hope you will support our work by making a donation on September 20th! Your contribution will help us grow the next generation of environmental stewards!
